Pittsburgh Pirates Details
Located along the Allegheny River, PNC Park is considered one of the most beautiful stadiums in Major League Baseball. The park comes with a gorgeous view of Downtown Pittsburgh, and the players that call it home aren’t bad, either. Managed by Clint Hurdle, the Pirates have one of the league’s most potent lineups, and their outfield has a lot to do with that. Pittsburgh has one of the league’s best group of outfielders, as the team has 2013 NL MVP and five-time All-Star Andrew McCutchen, 2016 All-Star and two-time Gold Glove Award winner Starling Marte and up-and-coming slugger Gregory Polanco. The three of them should pace this Pirates lineup for the foreseeable future, and Pittsburgh also has exciting prospects like Josh Bell and Adam Frazier. Both guys are ready to contribute right now, and they could be superstars rather shortly.
In the rotation, former No. 1 overall pick Gerrit Cole is the leader of a very young and exciting group. Cole is coming off a down year in 2016, but he is healthy and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him in the Cy Young race in the future. Young talents like Tyler Glasnow and Jameson Taillon are also guys that could win the hardware someday. At the very worst, they’re two starters that can more than capably get the ball to closer Tony Watson, who performed very well in that role in 2016.
