About Red Hot Chili Peppers
A new album in the works for Red Hot Chili Peppers?
The Red Hot Chili Peppers have had a crazy busy 2014. Of course it didn't start on the best of terms, as the band admitted it largely faked its Super Bowl halftime show performance back in February.
The Chili Peppers had joined Bruno Mars on stage at the big game to play their '90s staple "Give It Away," but viewers took to social media to slam the group after it was evident their guitar and bass were unplugged. The band says it made a "lone exception" to mime playing instruments over a vocal track, and that the decision was made by the NFL (which was unwilling to risk any expected sound problems during the show).
All was forgiven in short order, and no matter what, fans seemed to dig the "unplugged" performance. The next thing you know, the band was appearing on "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon," creating a bunch of new side projects, writing autobiographies and … recording a new album?
That certainly seems to be the case, as an Instagram video recently came to light showing members of the band seemingly working on new music in the studio. And while the video may leave fans hanging in terms of actually hearing something new, it does suggest something is coming down the pipe.
Red Hot Chili Peppers hasn't released an album since 2011's "I'm With You," and with the video out, fan furor will only ramp up until release day. With a new project should also come new tour dates, and we know you're probably itching to see the Chili Peppers live, given that their lone appearance on the calendar will come June 14 at the Isle of Wright Festival in England.
Red Hot road warriors (Updated July 11, 2013)
The Red Hot Chili Peppers haven't exactly been burning up the studio…or have they? The band released their tenth studio album "I'm With You" back in 2011. But new rumors suggest the rockers are indeed planning on a recording a new album this fall, possibly as early as September.
What's helping to churn the rumor mill? Drummer Chad Smith recently told Billboard, "We're looking at getting together in September and getting on a roll and starting to write songs for the next record… We always have little ideas percolating in jams and rehearsal warm-ups and soundchecks and gigs."
Tour dates are the one thing definitely not lacking on the Chili Peppers' calendar. The veteran rockers have been crisscrossing the globe, and most recently made headlines when they arrived in Israel on July 3 for the band's first concert in the country. A crowd of tens of thousands spilled out of Yarkon Park in Tel Aviv a few nights later, helping the band to mark the last stop in its European tour.
Not to worry U.S. fans. The Red Hot Chili Peppers are headed your way in just a couple of weeks. They'll play back-to-back nights at Sullivan Arena in Anchorage, Alaska on August 5 & 6th, then return to the mainland with a date at the Outside Lands in San Francisco on August 11. The band will also head to South America in November to play at the Circuito Banco de Brasil Festival at Mega Space in Rio de Janeiro.
About Red Hot Chili Peppers
You know you've got something good when you can stand above the rest in terms of originality and innovation for the rock 'n' roll genre. If you're the likes of any one of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, a band born back in 1983 in the heart of California, you're still at the top of the heap. Popular frontman Anthony Kiedis, guitarist Hillel Slovak, drummer Jack Irons, and guitarist Michael Balzary (also known as 'Flea') had an energy that was simply infectious, performing with such fervor that it was the immediate reason as to earning their name: the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
EMI Records took notice and signed the quartet for their debut album back in 1984. The band wouldn't find commercial success, however, until 1990. By that point Irons had departed, Slovak had died of a drug overdose and the band had worked its way through a number of personnel changes and several albums. A fresh lineup revolutionized the group ? with John Frusciante and Chad Smith joining the ranks. The result of the change was 1989's 'Mother's Milk,' a certified gold album with the surprise hit 'Higher Ground.'
What came next was 1991's 'Blood Sugar Sex Magik,' their first release to begin a new label contract with Warner Bros. Records. Thanks to the monster hit 'Give It Away' and the popular rock ballad 'Under the Bridge,' the Peppers hit the big time. They didn't stop there, though, as 1995 saw the release of 'One Hot Minute,' an album that drew mixed reviews but sold more than eight million copies worldwide. It was enough to lead the Peppers into what could be called a reunion project, and a record that remains their biggest success to date. It was called 'Californication,' and racked up global sales of 15 million.
The band's latest album, 'I'm With You,' was released in August 2011 and spawned a tour that kicked off the following month with Kiedis, Balzary and current members Chad Smith (drums) and Josh Klinghoffer (guitar). The first U.S. leg of the tour, including dates in Canada, began in March 2012 and will last through October. Highlighted stops include Lollapalooza and the Austin City Limits Festival.
Red Hot Chili Peppers Tickets - The Music of the Peppers
It was a slow burn for the band as the self-titled debut came out and started the whispers going over this crazy band. It was enough, however, to get the second album moving -- and that album was called Freaky Styley in 1985, a step forward in the right direction leading to their third album called The Uplift Mofo Party Plan in 1987. Things started to look pretty good for the Peppers as a fresh lineup revolutionized the band -- with John Frusciante and Chad Smith joining the ranks following the departures of Slovak and Irons. The result of the change was 1989's Mother's Milk, a certified gold album with the surprise hit 'Higher Ground.' That began the Pepper's truly defining moment in the monumental album to catapult them into stardom: 1991's Blood Sugar Sex Magik. The album to begin their new label contract with Warner Bros. Records. Thanks to the monster hit 'Give It Away' and the popular rock ballad 'Under the Bridge,' the Peppers hit the big time. They didn't stop there, though: 1995 saw the release of One Hot Minute, a decent album hit (not quite as popular as BSSM), and enough to lead the Peppers into what could be called a reunion album (but proved to be a huge success, almost better than BSSM). The name of the album was Californication; the year of 1999 was a happy year for the Peppers.
Red Hot Chili Peppers Tickets - The Sound and Style of the Peppers
You'd know the band if you heard them -- Kiedis has a sound that can only be described as funk mixed with punk and a good dose of some hard rock. The guitar riffs rocked, and one might even compare some of the music to a funkier version of Faith No More. No one could help loving the Peppers. With their crazy antics, fun music, and wild ways -- you simply have to listen to the likes of their single 'Rollercoaster,' and you'll get the picture!

New Red Hot Chili Peppers Album Underway + Upcoming Tour?
It's been almost four years since the Red Hot Chili Peppers have released an album, and almost a year since they've toured. (Which, compared to some artists isn't that long, but c'mon!) Luckily, at least one of those things are about to change. According to a now-deleted Tweet by bassist Flea, the boys have been…Read more
