Rod Stewart Details

About

Rod Stewart, known for his raspy voice, was born and raised in London. Famous for her quirky style and hit 80s anthem, “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”, Cyndi Lauper was born in Astoria, NY and is a Grammy award-winning artist. Both artists created extremely successful solo careers for themselves, collaborating with other famed musicians along the way. Cyndi and Rod performed together for the first time back in 1985 during a benefit organized by the AIDS Project Los Angeles. They performed songs including, "People Get Ready," "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" and "Time After Time".

Many years later, in 2017, the two powerhouses teamed up once again for a summer tour. The tour was so successful and full of energy that the pair decided to do it again in 2018. The 22-date North American tour appeals to both Cyndi and Rod’s fanbase. The two artists are both known for their love of rock and their abilities to ‘wow’ their audiences.

Both Rod and Cyndi have been nominated for 14 Grammy awards each. Rod has taken home the Grammy for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album, while Cyndi won Best New Artist in 1985 and Best Musical Theater Album in 2014 for “Kinky Boots”. Rod and Cyndi are both household names who are incredible apart, but even more stellar together.

Rod Stewart and Cyndi Lauper Setlist

Both Rod and Cyndi have produced hit after hit throughout their individual musical careers. So, what can you expect to hear as the two join forces? Below are some of the most popular songs performed during their tour:

  • You Wear It Well
  • Forever Young
  • Young Turkst
  • Downtown Train
  • The First Cut Is The Deepest
  • You Don’t Know
  • Money Changes Everything (The Brains)
  • Time After Time
  • Girls Just Want To Have Fun
  • True Colors

Rod and Cyndi don’t perform together throughout the duration of their shows. Cyndi is the opening act and then Rod takes the stage. However, they do perform bits together, including the Isley Brothers classic “This Old Heart of Mine”. When they do perform together, it’s a match of raspy voices made in heaven.

Rod Stewart and Cyndi Lauper Concert

Whether you’re more of a Rod fan or a Cyndi fan – or if you love both equally! – seeing them together is a real treat. Rod and Cyndi are both natural-born performers; they both know how to get the audience moving and feeling good. You’d never know their ages based on the amount of dancing and singing they do on stage. While both perform individually, you can expect to hear some fun duets as well, including, “This Old Heart of Mine (Is Weak for You)”.

The show is made even better with the talent of percussionists, a saxophonist, and even a harpist and string section. Rod and Cyndi sing their hearts out among a few costume changes and they dance around with pulsating passion. It’s hard to have a bad concert when you join two incredible forces as strong as these two!
