Shania Twain Details
Born Eilleen Regina Edwards in Canada, Shania Twain later changed her name and rose to fame in the ‘90s after dropping her hit album, "Come On Over". Twain has always had a love of music; she started singing at just three years old! Soon, she was playing the guitar and writing her own songs by age ten. Her mom encouraged her to sing at community events and in clubs – Shania even landed some TV and radio gigs through her efforts.
In 1987, disaster struck for Shania Twain – both of parents were killed in a car accident. Despite a life tragedy that could very easily – and understandably – throw anyone off course, Shania stood strong. She continued to write music in her free time and, in 1995, Twain released, "The Woman in Me". Twain subsequently received four Grammy nominations the following year, and won Best Country Album.
However, she truly struck gold when it came to her next album – "Come on Over". Songs from this album quickly topped the charts and Shania was raking in the Grammy nominations and awards. In fact, in 1999, her hit song, “You’re Still The One”, earned her not one, but two Grammys, and the song reached No. 1 on Billboard’s country charts.
At the turn of the century, Twain took home another two Grammys when “Come On Over” was named the Best Country Song and “Man! I Feel Like A Woman!” won Best Female Country Vocal Performance. "Come on Over" became, and still remains to this day, the best selling country album of all time!
Twain has collaborated with the likes of Elton John, Willie Nelson, and Lionel Richie. In 2017, Shania Twain came back with her first new studio album in fifteen years, "Now". The album is a testament to where she’s been and how far she’s come – life is about living in the now!
