About Swiss Beatz
In some circles, he's known as "Mr. Alicia Keys." But Kasseem Dean, better known by his stage name Swizz Beatz, is a star in his own right.
A disc, hip-hop artist, record producer, composer, fashion designer and painter are just a few of the titles held by this Bronx, New York native. Of course it all started when he was just a teen, having gained recognition in the music industry thank to a number of key friendships and several family members involved with the Ruff Ryders label. By the age of 16, he was producing his own tracks. A year later, he sold his first beat to rapper DMX, which ultimately became the chart-topping single "Ruff Ryders' Anthem."
By the age of 23, Dean entered a joint venture with the legendary Clive Davis and established his own record label, Full Surface. He later began to expand his scope to include production of artists from mainstream labels like Elektra and Def Jam. But he also had aspirations for a solo career, and released his debut studio album, "one Man Band Man" in August 2007. Still, it was his behind-the-scenes work that earned him both fame and recognition inside and outside the industry.
Most notable was Dean's involvement (with 81 other artists) on "We Are the World 25 for Haiti" during the Opening Ceremonies of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, and a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group in 2011 for a track entitled "On to the Next One" with Jay-Z.
On August 23, 2013 he released "Hands Up," a new single featuring Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross and 2 Chainz.
