Are you ready to explore a whole new world of Disney magic and fun? Then you’re all set to enjoy the Broadway musical adaptation of the beloved animated classic, Aladdin. The show is currently in the midst of a successful run at the New Amsterdam Theatre. It’s brought to you by Casey Nicholaw, the producer for The Lion King and director/choreography for The Book of Mormon.

The play is based on the 1992 animated story about a savvy street urchin whose life changes forever when he encounters a magical genie. The genie grants him three wishes, which he hopes to use to woo the beautiful Princess Jasmine. But the evil Jafar also has his eye on Jasmine–and the lamp–and Aladdin will have to use every bit of his wits to escape the wrath of the cunning sorcerer and save the kingdom of Agrabah.

The current production stars Ainsley Melham as Aladdin and Arielle Jacobs as Jasmine, with Michael James Scott in the role of the Genie. Original cast member Jonathan Freeman plays Jafar, having also voiced the character in the original 1992 animation. Aladdin features music and lyrics by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman. The book and additional lyrics were written by Chad Beguelin.
