In honor of its 25th anniversary, Cirque du Soleil has revived one of its most celebrated shows: Alegria. Returning to its original big-top or “grand chapiteau” setup, Alegria is set to wow fans once again.Since its debut in 1994, director Franco Dragone’s show was performed over 5,000 times in 250 cities worldwide. The show stopped its original touring run in late 2013.

The 2019 version of the show, called Alegria: In a New Light, is a revamped and reimagined version of the original production that features rearranged music, new costumes, new set design and updated acts, all of which make the show feel fresh while honoring its original themes.

Alegria is the Spanish word for “joy,” and show creator Daniel Ross describes the production as: “A show about the quest for power… a show about the winds of change in society and it’s a show about the passage from darkness to light.”

Notable acts for the revamped Alegria include the double-crossed wheel, a synchronized trapeze duo, a fire knife dance, high bars and a dazzling trampoline routine.
