Spring Blooms with Aziz Ansari’s Modern Romance
Everyone’s favorite Midwestern public employee / entrepreneur, Tom Haverford, is brought to life every week on Parks and Recreation by comedian Aziz Ansari. As popular as the role has become for his hi-jinx, Tumblr-friendly quotes, and endless business ideas – Apps and Zerts, anyone? – Ansari has continued to expand his profile as a comic with a consistent stream of new material and interesting standup routines. His latest installment, Modern Romance, puts Ansari back on the road and touring this spring with 38 confirmed shows. It’s no secret that Ansari loves food – it’s often featured in his story lines on TV, in interviews, and it made it into the title of his most recent comedy special, Dangerously Delicious. This new act lets him discuss what happens at beyond dinner on the first date and share the hilarity of romance in this day and age.

Eight of the first nine Modern Romance shows will be close to his hometown of Columbia, SC, including four at Carolina Theatre in Durham, NC. After 13 shows in the southeast, he’ll head to the west coast, with two shows at Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco. Aziz will work his way back to the midwest to finish the show, stopping for two shows at Bass Hall in Austin, TX, before finishing at the Chicago Theater in the Windy City. The midwest is as good a place as any for Ansari to wrap things up, given how Pawnee, IN, has been a showcase for so many of his funny adventures as Haverford – from Entertainment 720 to Rent-A-Swag. Don’t miss your chance to Treat Yo’ Self, and grab your tickets for a Modern Romance near you before they’re gone.
