A classic Hollywood film, now a new Broadway play. “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” made famous by the 1961 performance of Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly, will be coming to Broadway as a full scale theatrical production, beginning in the Spring of 2013. An exact venue and timing have yet to be released, but we’re hoping that information follows shortly. Rumor has it that February 2013 is the targeted timing.

Playing the role of the lead character Golightly will be Emilia Clarke, best known for her performance in HBO’s “Game of Thrones” as Daenerys Targaryen. Other actors have yet to be confirmed.

In a brief sypnosis on IMDB, the story is described as follows: “Struggling writer Paul Varjak moves into a New York apartment building and becomes intrigued by his pretty, quirky neighbor Holly Golightly. Holly’s lifestyle confuses and fascinates Paul; in public she flits through parties with a sexy, sophisticated air, but when they’re alone she changes into a sweetly vulnerable bundle of neuroses.”

In a statement, writer Richard Greenberg stated, ““The goal of this version is to return to the original setting of the novella, which is the New York of the Second World War, as well as to resume its tone — still stylish and romantic, yes, but rougher-edged and more candid than people generally remember.”

As you can see details are slim, but we wanted to give you Broadway fans out there a heads up. We’ll bring you the ticketing information of course once that is released to the public.
