The first thing you need to do with R.U.N. is throw your preconceived notions of Cirque Du Soleil out the window. Far from the old-world mimery and acrobatics of other Cirque shows, R.U.N. (as its name suggests) is a high-octane blast of action that brings the seedy feeling of the desert holdouts surrounding the Sunset Strip into the Luxor.
Expect mafia weddings, high-speed chases and plenty of grime on this new Cirque show soundtracked by a score of blown-out electronic music. Cirque’s first new production on the Strip since 2013 is heavier on stunts than acrobatics and will tell a full story. The latter is a rarity for Cirque shows, but don’t expect rusty and clunky scripting. They pulled in Robert Rodriguez of the Mariachi trilogy to put to put together the desert tale, essentially placing an action movie on a Vegas stage.
Cirque representatives claim that the show will place viewers among the action, making them feel like they are apart of the energetic storyline and its breathtaking stunts. This groundbreaking new production is set to debut on October 24, 2019.
Where is ‘RUN’ by Cirque du Soleil performed?
R.U.N. is a resident show at the Luxor, replacing Criss Angel Mindfreak Live. The new theater will be called the R.U.N. Theater at Luxor Hotel and Casino, and shows will be performed Wednesday through Sunday at 7pm and 930pm.
