Cirque Du Soleil’s Volta is one of the troupe’s most popular traveling big-top shows. At the heart of the show are the seasoned performers, who manage to make an explicit connection with the death-defying stunts that made the circus such a draw in the first place.

Based heavily around extreme sports, the thoroughly modern core of Volta brings the big top into the present with BMX stunts, parkour and other dazzling set pieces. The supercharged show follows a disillusioned man named Waz, who struggles his way through a dystopian game show and ultimately finds out how to appreciate himself with the help of a cadre of daredevil friends.

Unlike many other Cirque shows, the narrative of Volta is straightforward and clear, letting audiences feel like they’ve watched a complete story in addition to a series of jaw-dropping acrobatics. It’s this blend of arresting tricks and cohesive storytelling that led the Chicago Sun-Times to call Volta “one of the best Cirque shows in their repertoire.”

Where is ‘Volta’ by Cirque du Soleil performed?

Demand for the energetic show has Volta travelling all around the United States over the next several years. The show will run at various times in Atlanta, Chicago, Washington, DC, Los Angeles and Costa Mesa.

Volta is already showing in Chicago at Soldier Field, where it will continue until July 6. After a few weeks for travelling and set-up, Volta will pop back up in Washington DC at Tysons II. Those shows will run from July 26-September 8. A southern run follows at Atlanta’s Atlantic Station from October 10-December 8. The troupe will kick off 2020 with a few weeks in Dodger Stadium from January 18-February 23. The show closes out with a string of dates in Orange County at the OC Fair & Event Center from March 18-April 19.
