Having a hard time thinking of a fun date night to have with your partner? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered this time.
From ice skating at Discovery green to the LA Lakers game, here are the top date ideas in Houston this week.
The ICE @ Discovery Green
Sunday, January 19 | 11AM
Nothing says a fun date idea quite like ice skating at Discovery Green. And as an added bonus, you can now pretend to be one of those quintessential couples you see in every chick flick who partake in the winter activity. The girl is always just bad enough that she needs her date to hold her tightly in his arms. Truly romantic. If you’re me, you’ll be the person who took one of those traffic cones you give to kids in the rink when they don’t know how to skate. Then you’re all bent over looking like you’re having the worst time of your life. Ice skating is fun.
The Wizards Beer Festival @ The Ballroom at Bayou place
Saturday, January 18 | 6:30PM
If you’re looking for probably the best date night in existence, this is the place to go. The Wizards Beer Festival transformed their venue into a magical, wizarding world of wonders for you to explore. The grand hall will have beer tastings and there will be live music playing by DJ DumbelID, the Sorceress Sisters, and the Red Head Party Band. Additionally there will be tons of vendors, food, and just fun things for you to check out with your date or friend!
Paul Oakenfold @ Spire Night Club
Saturday, January 18 | 10PM
Who says you can’t go to a night club for a date? Paul Oakenfold is playing at the Spire Night Club and it’s going to be a great night for the night owls out there. This is also a fantastic way to listen to some great music, dance, and try to get to know each other by screaming over EDM. Oakenfold is considered a legend of the OG of the EDM/Trance world. If you haven’t heard his stuff, you should still definitely check this out.
Sunday Funday Brunch @ Fire & Flare Lounge
Sunday, January 19 | 12PM
Nothing says commitment quite like brunch with some tasty mimosas. Take your date to the Fire & Flare lounge this Sunday for some chicken and waffles, hookah, and some football. There’s no additional cover to come, just pay for your food and drinks and have a great time.
Jeff Ross with Dave Atell @ Revention Music Center
Saturday, January 18 | 8PM
If EDM really isn’t your thing, especially for a date, then try comedy! When all else fails, just sit and laugh together. I personally love going to comedy shows for a date night, and seeing Jeff Ross perform would be listed on my top 10 best dates I’ve been on. Maybe he’ll roast your blooming relationship and make you feel uncomfortable. It’ll be fun!
Los Angeles Lakers at Houston Rockets @ Toyota Center
Saturday, January 18 | 7:30PM
If you know that your date really likes basketball, and you don’t invite them to see LeBron play, you really should just end this relationship now. The LA Lakers will be playing against the Houston Rockets this Saturday and it’s the absolute perfect date for basketball fans. Highly recommended that you grab yourself some good seats for this game.
Houston Symphony @ Jones Plaza
Friday, January 17 | 8PM
Is it too much to ask for someone to take me on a fancy dinner and symphony night? This Friday night, take your date to see this amazing performance by the Houston Symphony. It’ll really make them feel like you’re secretly a rich royal from England who’s trying to find love with someone normal. How could you keep this Hallmark fantasy from them? Take them to the symphony.
Hamlet @ Main Street Theater
Friday, January 17 | 7:30PM
“One man. Seventeen Characters. Ninety minutes.” Even if you had no idea what Hamlet was about, that quote alone should be more than enough reason to go. Watch Guy Roberts perform one of Shakespeare’s most famous and possibly greatest creations. You’ll get to experience the world of play through Hamlet’s eyes, only seeing and hearing the scenes that the character himself experiences in the play. This would make for a really interesting first date or a regular date night for any couple.
