From Silversun Pickups to Sensory Friendly Day, here are some fun events for kids in Houston this week.

Screen on the Green @ Discovery Green

Friday, February 21 | 7PM

Discovery Green is hosting another fun family night of Screen on the Green this Friday night. Enjoy a flick the whole family will love while staring at the beautiful downtown Houston skyline. Bring blankets, chairs, or even pillows! Admission to this event is free and the movie they will be showing is The Messenger. This movie is about a soldier who was injured in the Iraq War who was returned home to finish his duty in the Army’s Casualty Notification service.

Sensory Friendly Day @ Children’s Museum of Houston

Monday, February 17 | 10AM

This Monday morning, the Children’s Museum of Houston will be hosting a really special event: Sensory Friendly Day. This event is not actually open to the public, and is exclusive to children with Autism. If you have a child who is on the spectrum, this would be an event they’d really enjoy. There won’t be any overhead music playing in the museum, and there will be sound-reducing headphones available for use. This day will allow these children to be able to enjoy the museum the way they are most comfortable. Outside food and drinks will be allowed because the café will be closed for this event. You have to pre-register so sign up today!

Silversun Pickups with Eliza & the Delusionals @ House of Blues Houston

Tuesday, February 18 | 7PM

If your kid is into Silversun Pickups, they’re already that much cooler than every other kid in school. Take them to see this alternative rock band play at the House of Blues Houston Tuesday night. Enjoy listening to some of their hit singles such as “Lazy Eye” and “Panic Switch”. Also playing this night will be Eliza & the Delusionals, an indie rock group you’re guaranteed to fall in love with. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to catch Silversun Pickups on tour and grab tickets on SeatGeek!

Party Gras @ Putt-Putt FunHouse

Sunday, February 23 | 10AM

Putt-Putt FunHouse is one of those places your kids will absolutely always remember, even when they’re in their 30s, just like Discovery Zone. We’ll never forget. This Sunday afternoon, take your kids to Party Gras! For this event, you get a special deal where you can buy a mega pass and get a $5 play card for free. You will also get free beads with every mega pass! Additionally, you can purchase a $10 play card, and get another $10 card for free. Monday, February 17 | 4PM

Curious Kids Story Time is an after school event for children in grades 2 or 3. They will dive into some hand-on experiences in science, games, and art.
