Kids are usually pretty easy to entertain, but sometimes it’s nice to make a little bit of effort. This week, let’s take them somewhere where they can really enjoy themselves, bond with you, and possibly even create a memory they will never forget.

From American Authors to Finding Neverland, here are some fun events for kids in Houston this week.

Dallas Mavericks at Houston Rockets @ Toyota Center

Friday, January 31 | 7PM

This game between the Dallas Mavericks and the Houston Rockets on Friday night at the Toyota Center will be one I bet even your kid will enjoy watching. As the Mavericks will be trying to redeem themselves for losing the 2006 NBA Finals to the Miami Heat, James Harden will be working hard to prevent that from happening. You can grab tickets for this game for as low as $43 on SeatGeek.

Heart String Workshop @ Home Depot

Saturday, February 1 | 9AM

This Saturday morning, Home Depot will be hosting a workshop for kids. In this workshop, they’ll be creating a heart string art piece they’ll be able to take home and gift. They’ll learn hands-on skills such as sanding, nailing, and painting. Not only do they get to keep their craft, but they’ll be receiving a free certification of achievement and a workshop apron.  The best part about this whole thing is that it’s free! There’s truly nothing like having your kid do a chore that they think is fun, while also not having to spend any money.

Yoga First Sundays @ Children’s Museum of Houston

Sunday, February 2 | 2:30PM

Yoga isn’t just for granola adults. It can also be for your granola kid! Join the Children’s Museum of Houston at their Yoga First Sunday event this week and help your kid get a chance to settle down after having such a fun weekend. This event will happen the first Sunday of every month and lasts only 30 minutes. Let’s be real. Could a kid even sit still for longer than that? In this yoga class, they will learn some balance and practice stretches, play with some poses, and learn some breathing exercises.

Finding Neverland @ The Grand 1894 Opera House

Saturday, February 1 | 8PM

A really great way to keep theater alive is to start taking your kids to them early on so they can appreciate how amazing it truly is. You can start this Saturday night at The Grand 1894 Opera House to see Finding Neverland. This theatrical event tells a story inspired by the beloved tale of Peter Pan. You can get tickets for this magical event starting from $22.50.

Theme Night Tuesdays: H-Town Pride @ Discovery Green

Tuesday, January 28 | 7PM

You should always find an opportunity to take your kid to something that may not only amuse you, but help them build character by falling on ice. Discovery Green is hosting their last Theme Night Tuesday of the season this week, so you should definitely stop by! This week’s theme is H-Town Pride and if you dress the part, you get a discounted rate of only $11 which includes tax and skate rentals.

American Authors with Magic Giant @ Warehouse Live

Monday, January 27 | 7:30PM

It is never too early to get your kids into great music. This Monday night, take them to see American Authors with Magic Giant performing at Warehouse Live. They have probably already heard of American Author’s hit single “Best Day of My Life”, so it’s not like they’ll completely resent you for taking them to a “lame” concert. With over 4.8 million monthly listeners on Spotify, I can guarantee your kid will have a great time at this show. You can grab tickets for as low as $26 on SeatGeek.
