Al Pacino Back On Broadway
Al Pacino, a veteran of Broadway who has appeared in plays such as David Mamet’s American Buffalo (for which he was nominated for a Drama Desk Award); Eugene O’Neill’s Hughie; Oscar Wilde’s “Salome;” Lyle Kessler’s Orphans; and a Tony-Award nominated performance in Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice, has returned to the Broadway stage in a revival of Mamet’s Glengarry Glen Ross, a story he is very familiar with as he starred in the movie version back in 1992.

The play has started previews at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre and is already drawing big crowds. It is set to officially open on November 11 for a limited run of eleven weeks.
For a snapshot of what the play’s storyline centers on, here’s a brief summary, taken from the show’s website:
The stakes are high at a fly by night Chicago real estate office: 1st prize – a new Cadillac, 2nd prize – a set of steak knives, 3rd prize – you’re fired! Glengarry slices to the core of the American dream and exposes the depths people will go to stay on top of the game. There is no room for losers in this office, and only “closers” will get the good Glengarry sales leads. They’re learning first hand that in business, someone always has to pay.
