Jump to: Google Plus Cover Photo Dimensions
Today Google announced a major redesign for their social network. There is certainly to be a lot of hate, but overall I like it. One notable change not being talked about to much that impacts me as the manager of our page was the addition of a Cover Photo in the same vein as Facebook pages.

Google has auto-switched to the format and included a JV looking default image. I tried Google for the proper Google+ cover photo dimensions but couldn’t find it. I tried using our Facebook cover but it was too small, which is where they finally included some helpful messaging about its size.

Google+ Cover Photo Dimensions

Google Plus Cover Photo Width: 940 pixels wide
Google Plus Cover Photo Height: 180 pixels tall
These Google+ dimensions differ from the Facebook cover so one does not simply reuse there Facebook cover which is a little inconvenient. It is amazing how similar Google made this style to Facebook’s design of their pages. Seems like they are invited the copying little brother criticism.

Google+ Cover Photo Tiles Options

If you don’t have an image that fits the ultra wide and stout dimensions for a true cover photo, Google allows you to select a set of five smaller images instead. With this approach you will still have a slightly larger image in the right with your original logo/avatar.

What do you think? This is rough as we haven’t taken the time to do a custom design for this format but it will work in the meantime. What would you recommend we use? For one, the test isn’t in an ideal position…
