Of all the things that could be turned into a successful musical, the 1992 comedy Honeymoon in Vegas would probably be last on most people’s list. And yet, that appears to be just the case. After a successful preview run from September to October at the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, New Jersey, Honeymoon in Vegas the musical will be heading to Broadway, the Nederlander Theatre to be exact. Preview shows have already started, but the show will officially premiere on January 15. The musical stars Rob McClure, Brynn O’Malley and he-of-Who’s-the-Boss-fame nominee Tony Danza.

Adapted from the film of the same name (which starred Nicolas Cage, Sarah Jessica Parker, and James Caan), Honeymoon in Vegas is a musical that, according to a press released “tells the story of Jack Singer (Rob McClure), a regular guy with an extreme fear of marriage, who finally gets up the nerve to ask his girlfriend Betsy (Brynn O’Malley) to marry him. But when they head to Las Vegas to get hitched, smooth talking gambler Tommy Korman (Tony Danza), looking for a second chance at love, falls head over heels for Betsy.” Its book is by the original film’s writer/director Andrew Bergman and music is by three-time Tony winner Jason Robert Brown.
