James Cameron, film writer, producer, and director extraordinaire, recently announced exciting news. No, there’s not another Terminator or Titanic. For lovers of his 2009 sci-fi action adventure film Avatar, you’ll have a chance to relive the film’s magic next year. While Cameron has confirmed three Avatar sequels, due out in 2016, 2017, and 2018, he has partnered with Daniel Lamarre who is President and CEO of Cirque du Soleil. In 2015, the duo will debut ‘Avatar’ an arena-touring, live production of the award-winning motion picture.
Cameron’s partnership with Cirque du Soleil is fitting. The company, founded in Montreal in 1984, is famous for their innovative displays of circus and performance art. While it remains to be seen how Avatar will translate to a live production, Cameron and Lamarre are the obvious choices to make that happen.
