Though he’s currently in the midst of an über successful Broadway run for Of Mice and Men, that hasn’t stopped the multi-talented James Franco from making plans for the future. The workaholic actor/writer/painter/teacher/director/Instagramer has confirmed plans to direct an off-Broadway production of The Long Shrift by Richard Boswell. According to press notes, the play tells the tale of Richard Singer, a “dorky teenage boy” thrown in jail after being accused of rape. The story begins nine years later when he is released, and chronicles what happens when his accuser reappears in real life.

Not one to shy away from a new challenge, this will be Franco’s first time working as a stage director. The cast includes Allie Gallerani, Scott Haze, Brian Lally, Ahna O’Reilly and Ally Sheedy. It will open on July 13 at the Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, and runs through August 23. Check below for the full schedule as tickets are released.
