Since premiering at the August Wilson Theatre in October of 2005, Jersey Boys has cemented itself as one of the best Broadway shows of our time. The jukebox musical is based on the life of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, the prolific musical act from the ’60s. The play is written in a documentary-style format, with the storyline split into “seasons” and each member of the band taking turns telling their story. And of course, regaling the audience with all of their rock n’ roll hits along the way. The success of Jersey Boys in New York City has led to multiple tours around the world, including shows in Chicago, Las Vegas, Canada, and Australia. In 2005, Jersey Boys earned itself four Tonys, including one for Best Musical. The show also won a Grammy for Best Musical Show Album.

Before there was Jersey Boys, there was The Four Seasons. Comprised of crooners Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito, and Nick Massi, The Four Seasons were a rock/pop group from New Jersey that originated in the ’60s. They’re famous for hits like “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” Sherry,” “Earth Angel,” and “My Boyfriend’s Back.” Pretty impressive roster! In 1990 the group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in 1999 they were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame. The Four Seasons are one of the most successful rock n’ roll groups of all time, having sold over 175 million records worldwide.
