Since the dawn of time – well, at least since the ‘60s – London has been beating America to the punch when it comes to new, amazing music. And with the current rise of British electronic-pop (we’ve already covered Disclosure and Jessie Ware), it’s no surprise that UK duo AlunaGeorge is next on our list of top contenders.

The group is made up of Aluna Francis and George Reid, with Francis contributing her soft and sweet vocals, and Reid contributing his hard and heavy beats. The two met back in 2009, when Reid remixed a song by My Toys Like Me, Francis’s band at the time. But it wasn’t until a few years later that this lethal combination began recording music together and putting it on SoundCloud for public consumption.

Since then, the world has taken notice. The release of their 2012 singles, “Your Drums, Your Love” and “You Know You Like It” garnered them spots on the UK Singles Chart, as well as a second place finish on the BBC Sound of 2013 poll. Not to mention that earlier this year their collaboration on the song “White Noise” with British brothers Disclosure peaked at No. 2 on the UK charts.

The gruesome twosome are currently on the road in support of their debut album, “Body Music,” slated for release on July 29. The US leg of the tour kicks off on August 30, and includes stops at several venues that have proven influential for other recent breakout artists: U Street Music Hall, Music Hall of Williamsburg and Bowery Ballroom, to name a few. Tickets for said tour went on sale just last week, and already there are hundreds of listings on SeatGeek, including the Music Hall of Williamsburg show where tickets are going for $82 a pop.

So trust us, trust the data, and for God’s sake – trust London. Check out AlunaGeorge when they come to a city near you.
