Mel Brooks to Perform Solo Show at Geffen Playhouse
Legendary comedian and EGOT holder, Mel Brooks, will perform a one-off solo show (his first, ever) at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles, CA, on April 28. Dubbed Mel Brooks: Live at the Geffen, the show is being billed as “an introspective retrospective of Mel Brook’s life and career.” Why now? Allegedly, Brooks was inspired by Bette Midler’s recent solo show, I’ll Eat You Last: A Chat with Sue Mengers, performed on Broadway last year. With a legendary roster of films like Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, and Spaceballs under his belt, this is a show not to be missed if you’re in the Los Angeles area. For ticketing information, head to the venue’s website.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, Mel Brooks became a household name as a part of the comedy duo The 2000 Year Old Man with Carl Reiner. He is one of the most successful directors in history, and he also boasts a smash hit on Broadway with the musical adaptation of his first film, The Producers. Three of his films rank on the American Film Institutes list of the top 100 comedy films of all time: Blazing Saddles falls at No. 6; The Producers ranks at No. 11; and Young Frankenstein makes it at No. 13.
