Best Country Christmas Songs of 2014
“Baby It’s Cold Outside” Connie Britton & Will Chase
If you watched ABC’s Nashville last week, then you already saw Rayna (Britton) and Luke (Chase) perform this classic, albeit creepy, holiday tune. You can find this song and a whole slew of other Christmas favorites on the official Nashville holiday album just released by the cast.

“Carol of the Bells” LeAnn Rimes
After spending the last couple years overcoming some personal struggles, LeAnn Rimes is back in the spotlight and just as lovely as ever. In July, the singer announced she would release three Christmas EPs over the next three years. So far she’s kept her promise, and you can hear “Carol of the Bells” on One Christmas: Chapter 1.

“At Christmas” Sara Evans
On her first full-length Christmas album, this Missouri native sings about the joys of being together with family on–you guessed it–Christmas. Some of these aforementioned joys include: pecan pie, champagne, and a crowded dining room filled with ancient relatives. We could probably do without that last bit.

“What God Wants for Christmas” Darius Rucker
Remember that time that Darius Rucker was in Hootie & the Blowfish, then went underground completely, and is now a humongous country star? Yeaahhh… me too. Check out one of his many new Christmas songs (he released a full holiday album in late October), in which we finally acknowledge the man whose birthday we’re celebrating each year.
“Mistletoe” Lucy Hale
The multi-talented Lucy Hale is best known for her role on ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars, but the 25-year-old actually began her career as a singer, making waves on the American Idol spinoff, American Juniors, in 2003. She’s finally returning to her singing roots, having released her debut album earlier this year as well as this original holiday tune.
“Holly Jolly Christmas” Jerrod Niemann
Listen to this country singer–and longtime writing partner of Garth Brooks–do his own take on this Burl Ives holiday classic. It’s simple, sweet, and filled with that unmistakeable Nashville twang.
“Baby! It’s Christmas” Jessie James Decker
While Jessie James Decker may seem like another flash-in-the-pan E! reality show star, don’t be fooled. This singer/songwriter has been performing since the age of nine, and taking weekly trips to Nashville in an effort to get signed since she was 15. Seems her work is finally paying off–check out her super soulful Christmas song below.
“Christmas in Blue Chair Bay” Kenny Chesney
We get it Kenny: you like the beach, you love your tan, and you always have a drink in your hand with your feet in the sand. Must be nice to live in the South.
“Mele Kalikimaka” Jamey Johnson ft. The Secret Sisters
Released on Johnson’s own label, Big Gassed Records, this Hawaiian-themed Christmas song appears as track two on his new EP The Christmas Song. Also showing up on the EP is “Baby It’s Cold Outside,” “Pretty Paper,” “The Christmas Song,” and a Johnson original, “South Alabam Christmas.” Sadly, we couldn’t find a clip of the current version of this song, so enjoy Bing Crosby’s original.
“All is Well” Michael W. Smith ft. Carrie Underwood
Anytime Carrie Underwood is there, I’m there. And when she’s performing a duet with Grammmy-winning country star Michael W. Smith, well, let’s just say this song has a top spot on our Christmas party playlist. Not only does Ms. Underwood make an appearance on this album, but Amy Grant, Martina McBride, Little Big Town, and a slew of other top country artists also lend their vocals to Smith’s latest release. Listen to this original tune below.
