The Broadway smash “Wicked” has taken its show on the road this summer and fall and is currently in the middle of a six week run in Las Vegas at the new Smith Center for the Performing Arts. The run kicked off back on August 29 and will go through October 7. When anyone thinks of the Wicked Witch of the West, the Wizard of Oz instantly comes to mind. The story of Dorothy, the young girl from Kansas who mistakenly drops into the Land of Oz. Her journey is guided by the helpful (and sometimes not-so-helpful) witches who acknowledge her presence the moment she appears in Oz. Now, those two witches have stories as well; stories that establish how they acquired their favorable titles. 35 award winning musical, Wicked, describes the lives of the Wicked Witch of the West, and Glinda the good witch as their stories unfold on stages around the world.
Based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, and directed by Joe Mantello, Wicked focusses on the lives of the popular and the misunderstood. Two friends; one bound in emerald-green skin while the other is graced with beauty, work together to establish their futures as the witches they are destined to be.
