Common to Curate Chicago’s AAHH! Fest
Rapper and White House frequent visitor Common has just announced a new hip-hop festival for his hometown of Chicago. Called AAHH! Fest, it’s all set to go down on September 21 in Union Park in Chicago, IL. For a new event, the lineup is impressive (but obviously Common has pull in the industry, duh): performers include Jay Electronica, De La Soul, Lupe Fiasco, Lil’ Herb, and Common himself, and comedian Dave Chappelle has agreed to host the event. There will also be a community show curated by Rhymefest. Wanna go? Tickets for the community showcase will run you $20, while late show tickets are going for $55 (for general admission) and $125 (for seating). For both shows, tickets will cost you $70 for general admission or $250 for VIP. All tickets are available now through the festival’s website, so get in on what could be the best new hip-hop festival.
Common started out as a rapper with 1992’s Can I Borrow A Dollar?, staying underground until his work with the Soulquarians in the late 1990s. He’s now branched out, boasting his own record label imprint (Think Common Entertainment) and a burgeoning acting career, with roles in movies like Happy Feet Two, Smokin’ Aces, Date Night, Just Wright, and American Gangster. He is currently on AMC’s Hell on Wheels.
