Here’s Why You Should Attend Weekend 2 of Austin City Limits Music Festival
Weekend one of this year’s Austin City Limits festival is in the books. The massive music event has been lighting up Texas since 2002, and despite a consistently solid lineup has generally been playing second fiddle to heavy-hitting fests like Bonnaroo and Coachella. Until now.
Due to overwhelming popularity, ACL music festival expanded to a two-weekend event in 2013. In the six years that have followed, the events’ notoriety has only grown. Now, in 2019, the festival boasts a multi-weekend lineup that includes: Guns N’ Roses, Cardi B, Billie Eilish and Lizzo (and a host of others).
Austin City Limits Weekend 1 Highlights
Not one of the hundreds of thousands in attendance at Zilker Park over the weekend? Here are some festy highlights…
Lizzo @ the Miller Light Stage
Lizzo was booked to play ACL before breaking through with her massive hit, “Truth Hurts,” so by the time she performed as a non-headliner the stage felt a bit small for her now-huge fanbase. Never-the-less, the fans packed in, and she pulled in one of the largest crowds the Miller Light Stage had ever seen.

Guns N’ Roses @ the American Express Stage
If you had told us years ago that Guns N’ Roses would not only be successfully touring the country, but headlining a major festival, we probably wouldn’t have believed you. But here we are in 2019, with Axl, Slash and Co. performing both Friday night headlining slots at ACL. The rockers took the stage for two and a half hours, placating fans with renditions of “It’s So Easy,” “Mr. Brownstone” and of course “Welcome to the Jungle.”

Billie Eilish @ the Honda Stage
Arguably the biggest draw of the weekend was, unsurprisingly, Billie Eilish. The 17-year-old pop phenom performed at the large Honda Stage Saturday evening, dressed in her signature goth-pop glam, and delivered hits like “Bad Guy,” “Ocean Eyes” and “You Should See Me in a Crown” to her thousands of screaming fans. Eilish, along with Lizzo, will also be at ACL Weekend 2.
