Twenty-twenty is destined to be jam-packed with tons of festivals featuring your favorite jam bands (see what I did there?) There are plenty of opportunities this coming year to attend festivals showcasing the most popular bands from this eclectic genre.

With that in mind, we’ve put together a comprehensive list of five of the best jam band festivals that you cannot afford to miss.

Lockn’ Festival

Location: Arrington, VA
Dates 2020: June 19-21
Since its inception to the jam band festival circuit in 2013, the Lockn’ Festival is held at the scenic Infinity Downs Farm – a venue that’s ideal for both camping and jamming. In 2020, the festival will be celebrating founding member of the Grateful Dead Phil Lesh’s 80th birthday. The festival was pioneered seven years ago by a group of dedicated music fans that wanted to provide fellow jam band enthusiasts with a space to experience a wide variety of improvisational groups. Past Lockn’ Festival performers include acts such as Circle Around The Sun, Vulfpeck, Galactic, and more.

Peach Music Festival

Location: Scranton, PA
Dates 2020: July 2-5
What better way to celebrate the 4th of July weekend this 2020 with music, camping, and fireworks every night? Commonly referred to simply as The Peach, this festival has hosted jam band greats in the past including Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, Lettuce, and The String Cheese Incident.

High Sierra Music Festival

Location: Quincy, CA
Dates 2020: July 2-5
One of the longest running festivals hosting jam bands galore, High Sierra returns to Quincy, CA this upcoming summer to celebrate its 30th anniversary. Since its inception, the festival’s annual attendance has grown into a 10,000 person gathering, with performances from over 50 groups total over the span of four days. Past performers include Umphrey’s McGee, Ween, and Spafford.

SweetWater 420 Fest

Location: Atlanta, GA
Dates 2020: April 24-26
Presented annually by SweetWater Brewing Company in Atlanta, GA, this Southern festival has announced a stellar lineup for 2020. Iconic jam bands such as Oysterhead, Trey Anastasio Band, and The Floozies are set to perform over the 3-day festival, held at Centennial Olympic Park. The festival will also host an artist market consisting of local small businesses and independent artisans, open to everyone who attends.

Summer Camp Music Festival

Location: Chillicothe, IL
Dates 2020: May 22-24
This well-known annual festival will be celebrating its 20th year of performances in 2020. With its slogan, “Make a Difference,” Summer Camp is known for their philanthropic endeavors. Their Soulshine Tent will be set up at the festival grounds, offering a variety of resources and information to encourage concertgoers to get involved in fundraising and volunteer opportunities for organizations such as Amnesty International and the Do It For The Love Foundation.
