This is a great, great moment for classic rock, one which almost makes the continuing bad (cold, windy, cold) weather bearable. Following in the be-glittered footsteps of David Bowie and his recent pop-culture resurgence – his new album, The Next Day, has been getting rave reviews, and there’s a new Bowie retrospective up at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London – Billy Idol has also burst back onto the scene with a new round of tour dates. The originator of the “Rebel Yell” was initially slated to play only Bonnaroo this summer, but has since decided to expand his performance itinerary and tack on more dates in June and several May gigs as well.
No venues have been announced yet, but we do know which cities and on what dates Idol is scheduled to perform. His first show is booked for Temecula, CA, on May 24, and is followed by performances in Nevada, New York, Connecticut, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Ohio, to name just a few lucky states. Although the rockstar doesn’t have a new album to promote (his last effort, Happy Holidays, dropped in 2006), having released seven records in 24 years, it’s unlikely the icon will find himself at a loss for setlist filler. Tickets to Billy Idol’s summer concert trek are on sale now, but be sure to check back here for any last-minute discounts!
