Bumbershoot Festival Takes Over Seattle This Labor Day
A Seattle Labor Day weekend tradition since 1971, Bumbershoot returns once again August 30 to September 1 to the 74-acre Seattle Center. This time around, Foster the People, J. Cole, Wu-Tang Clan, Elvis Costello, and the Replacements will headline the main stages. Want more acts? You’ll get performances from Los Lobos, Bootsy Collins, Real Estate, Panic! At the Disco, Danny Brown, G-Eazy, Polica, Youngblood Hawke, and many, many more over the festival’s three-day span. Tickets are available via the Bumbershoot website: single-day tickets will run you $55, a three-day pass is $120, a three-day gold pass is $350, and a three-day platinum pass is $550. Other ticket options for available for other days. Get them now, before prices go up!
Bumbershoot is one of North America’s largest festivals, taking place at the Seattle Center (which, as a matter of fact, was for the 1962 World’s Fair). It began as a city-funded arts and musical festival called “Mayor’s Art Festival”, and the first Bumbershoot had an attendance of 125,000 people. The name of the festival was taken from the word “bumbershoot”, a 19th-century colloquial term for an umbrella (makes sense in such a rainy city, eh?).
