The third iteration of the CBGB Music & Film Festival is coming to New York City October 8-12 at venues all across the city. So who is playing? Jane’s Addiction, Devo, Billy Idol, Macy Gray, The Muffs, Stephen Trask, We Are Scientists, Surfer Blood, Rocket and the Ghost, Electric Six, High Waisted, Heavy Glow, and many, many (and we mean many) more. The CBGB Music & Film Festival will also feature the world premiere of the film Hardcore Devo Live! and Carter-and-Cash documentary The Winding Stream, as well as a 30th anniversary showing of This Is Spinal Tap and many other works for your viewing pleasure. Ticketing and venue information haven’t yet been released, so stay tuned and visit the CBGB Music & Film Festival website for more.

The CBGB music club was opened in 1973 by Hilly Crystal at 315 Bowery, and it launched the careers of bands like the Ramones, Patti Smith Group, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Talking Heads, and Blondie. It was closed on October 15, 2006 after a length battle with the landlord, Bowery Residents’ Committee, over alleged unpaid rent. But CBGB lives on—a radio channel launched on iHeartRadio in 2010, and the CBGB Music & Film Festival began in 2012.
