Celebrate Brooklyn! Performing Arts Festival Announces Lineup
Attention Brooklynites: though some of the paid Celebrate Brooklyn! shows at Prospect Park have already been announced (these include shows by The National, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Neutral Milk Hotel, and more), the full lineup of shows has just been released. Want some highlights of the freebies? Dum Dum Girls, Hospitality, and TEEN on June 21; Warpaint and Yellowbirds on June 26; Deltron 3030 and Nomadic Massive on July 19; Nickel Creek on July 24; and St. Vincent and San Fermin on August 9. All of the free shows are open to public of all ages, and they start at 7:00 or 7:30pm. For the paid shows, well, like any other paid show, you have to get tickets, some of which are on sale now. Check out a more fleshed-out lineup below, and for further ticketing information, visit the festival’s website.
Celebrate Brooklyn is one of New York City’s longest-running outdoor festivals. It was started in 1979 as a way to bring people back into Prospect Park after years of neglect. The festival was an anchor in the park’s revitalization, and it remains one of the city’s biggest summer attractions. Notable artists at the festival over the years include Norah Jones, Bob Dylan, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, and Blue Man Group.
