Monterey, CA, will be rocking August 23 and 24, thanks to the First City Festival, the organizers of which have just announced who’ll be taking the stage this year: Beck and The National will headline the two-day event. Other notable bands and artists that will be performing include: The Naked and Famous, Phantogram, Best Coast and Tokyo Police Club. Tickets officially go on sale Friday May 9.

Taking its name from Monterey’s claims as the “first capital” of California, the First City Festival takes over at the Monterey Fair and Event Center (the site of the legendary Monterey Pop Festival in 1967) to celebrate the best in independent and underground music. This will be the second year of the festival, which also features carnival rides and games, gourmet food vendors, a vinyl-records marketplace, and a craft beer and wine garden.
