Ready for a new festival? Best Fest (who put on Stones Fest, Petty Fest, and Dylan Fest, among others) have joined forces with George Harrison’s estate to put on the first-ever George Fest: A Night to Celebrate the Music of George Harrison, set to take place on September 28 at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles, CA. Celebrating Harrison’s life and music will be the Cabin Down Below Band, Brian Wilson, Norah Jones, Brandon Flowers and Mark Stoermer of The Killers, Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd of The Flaming Lips, Ann Wilson, Britt Daniel of Spoon, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Cold War Kids, Karen Elson, The Black Ryder, Jamestown Revival, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Butch Walker, and many more. Best Fest organizers have noted that there will be many surprises throughout the evening. All of the ticket sale proceeds from the show will go to Sweet Relief, a charity that provides financial assistance to career musicians struggling to make ends meet. Tickets for the festival are on sale now.

Born February 25 1943, George Harrison was a quarter of the biggest band ever, The Beatles, but he also had a successful solo career. Harrison is responsible for some of the biggest Beatles hits, including “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”, “Here Comes the Sun”, and “Something”.
