Our 4 Favorite Memorial Day Weekend Festivals
This year’s Memorial Day falls on May 28, and with it comes the unofficial kick-off of festival season.
While out celebrating your rights (is that what they’re calling it these days?), remember to honor the brave men and women who fought for them. Wherever you are this Memorial Day, participate in Congress’s National Moment of Remembrance at 3PM for a moment of silence. With that in mind–let’s go!
#1. Boston Calling
Location: Allston, MA
Headliners: Eminem, The Killers, Jack White, and more…
Get patriotic at the American Revolution’s birthplace. In addition to the diverse lineup of heavy-hitters like Eminem and Jack White, there’s a unique comedy and entertainment roster that includes Jenny Slate, David Cross, plus actress and local Harvard alum Natalie Portman. Portman will be hosting a series of “special programming” which we hope will just be a debut of more SNL-style raps.
Now in its fifth year, Boston Calling offers a wide array of food from DŌ’s viral cookie dough to Boston specialties like seafood and steak. SHOP TICKETS
Location: Napa Valley, CA
Headliners: Bruno Mars, Halsey, Snoop Dogg, and more…
What better combo than live music and wine country? Enjoy gourmet food and alcohol–including craft beer, cocktails, bourbon, and of course wine–in beautiful Napa Valley. BottleRock’s lineup caters to all ages with a headlining roster of pop musicians both young and old. There are also art installations and a silent disco for when things get weird late-night. Wine, dine and dance you heart away in NorCal’s heavenly summer weather. SHOP TICKETS
Location: George, WA
Headliners: Bon Iver, The National, Modest Mouse, and more…
Sasquatch! Music Festival is as unique as it sounds, claiming to be the first Pacific Northwest festival “catered to the eclectic tastes of music enthusiasts.” Few venues are more “gorge”-ous (pun intended) than the outdoor Gorge Amphitheatre. Far from civilization, enjoy sweeping views of the Columbia River and Columbia Gorge Canyon. Campgrounds, cottage-style “glamping” tents, and access to showers (!!!) complete this camping oasis.
The lineup is stacked with alternative acts across multiple genres, including Tyler the Creator, David Byrne and Snakehips. While you may not catch a glimpse of Sasquatch himself, we think you’ll still have a good time. SHOP TICKETS
#4. Summer Camp
Location: Chilicothe, IL
Headliners: moe., Umphrey’s McGee, Phil Lesh, Diplo, and more…
With a massive lineup stacked with jam bands and electronic musicians, this isn’t your typical summer camp (unless you went to camp somewhere very, very cool). Besides pulling in artists ranging from Diplo to moe., Action Bronson to STS9, this Midwest fest has also established its “Make A Difference” program for collective consciousness, including sustainability and charity activities. There’s also on-site camping available for the three-day affair, so get your tents ready. SHOP TICKETS
