Coachella's festival at sea will be hosted on a large ship like this one.

For the first time in its 13-year history, Coachella will be hosted in a venue outside the desert city of Indio, CA. One of the world’s most popular music festivals has decided to swap wasteland for water, with the “S.S. Coachella” – a 122,000-ton, 2,800-capacity ship – scheduled to set sail off the coast of Ft. Lauderdale this December.

The “music festival at sea” will feature a lineup of over 20 acts, including headliners Pulp and Hot Chip. They and their fellow cruise-ship crooners will travel on the Celebrity Silhouette’s (the boat’s official name) two separate voyages, which include a three-day tour of the Bahamas and four days in Jamaica, respectively.

Tickets for the luxury rave start at $500, with varying packages priced as high as $9,000. Reservations go on sale July 21st, at which point (according to the site’s running countdown) you’ll only have to wait 148 days for the S.S. Coachella’s maiden voyage.
