1. Denim
Blue Jean Baby! Denim is everywhere. The best way to rock this trend is with a great pair of denim cutoff shorts, a denim vest or jacket, or even denim overalls. This versatile, durable, and comfortable fabric is sure to be a staple at music festivals this summer.
2. High-Waisted Bottoms with Cropped Tops
90’s midriff styles are back, but this time in a much more flattering way. High waisted shorts and skirts paired with cropped tops, or even swimwear are super trendy this season. These styles are a great way to showing a little skin, and accentuate a small waist.
3. Maxis
Now if showing off your belly isn’t your thing, don’t fear, because this next trend allows you to cover up a little more, and still look great. Maxis are very “in” this summer, and the ease and flowy-ness of Maxi dresses and skirts make them perfect for music festivals. These super flattering styles are great for every body type, and look effortlessly chic in almost any color/pattern.
4. Flowers/Floral
April showers brought May flowers, and now these flowers are making a fashion statement. Like denim, flowers/florals are another trend that’s showing up everywhere, from floral printed dresses, rompers, scarves and shoes, and the classic flower behind your ear. But the new thing this season is floral crowns. This latest hair accessory has been worn by celebrity-fashionistas Vanessa Hudgens and Lucy Hale, and really adds an extra oomph to any festival outfit.
5. Boots
While sandals may seem the obvious choice for any summer event, music festival footwear is going a different direction this season – boots! Generally ankle length, these boots add edge to your outfit and look great in a variety of styles – combat, leather, suede, cowboy or lace-up. Paired with flowy skirts or denim cutoffs, this protective footwear is perfect for music festivals, as your feet wont get too dirty or stomped on by the crowds.
6. Big Floppy Hats
With the hot sun beating down, SPF is a must at summer music festivals. But this next trend – the big floppy hat – provides even better protection from UV rays. This 70’s inspired style tops off any look, and is adored by everyone from Rachel Zoe, to Kim Kardashian, to Jennifer Lopez.
7. Graphic Tees
Another great trend for music festivals this season is the graphic tee. Whether your repping your favorite artist or just a cool design, these comfy tees will have you looking laid-back rock and roll, and are great for guys as well. This style looks great paired with jean cutoffs, ankle boots, and a printed headscarf (shown below.)
8. Cross-Body Bags
Perhaps the most practical trend on this list is the cross-body bag. This hands-free style is great for music festivals, as it allows you to effortlessly hold onto your belongings, keeping everything safe while you rock out to your favorite band. Make this look even trendier by choosing a bag with lots of fringe.
9. Rompers
Another super-easy trend this summer music festival season is the romper. Throw one of these on and your outfit is practically complete. Whether you go for a short or long style, rompers look great in solids and various prints (floral, stripes, prairie, etc.)
10. 80’s Inspired Neons
Tight and bright isn’t just for raves anymore. While 80’s inspired neons are certainly great for Ultra, Electric Zoo, DEMF, etc. this trend is taking over music festivals of all kinds, as shown by Victoria Secret model Alessandra Ambrosia showed us at Coachella with hot pink high-rise cutoffs, neon orange aviator sunglasses, and a bright floral headscarf.
