Original Post
Last year during the second-annual Sweetlife Music Festival, thousands of revelers enjoying their sangria, their beers, their Shake Shack burgers, and the sound of their voices merged with their friends’ and their favorite cult or burgeoning artists’, were treated to a nasty spring shower. In the middle of the event, around the time The Shins took the stage, it began to downpour. The unlucky turn of events almost killed the considerable buzz all those lounging on the lawn had been building for hours. It was almost awful. Barred from the rows of seats sheltered by the Merriweather Post Pavilion’s overhang until The Shins completed their set, many threatened to leave. Halfway through the second-annual Sweetlife Music Festival, it looked as if the event wouldn’t be given a third shot.

Luckily for all those ticketholders, and fans hoping to visit the Maryland fairground in 2013, the day didn’t turn out so bad. Kid Cudi killed it, and Avicii brought the house down – a feat, considering how long many had waited to come inside. Despite the cold, despite the wet, despite the strange apparition of so many girls in crop tops and short-shorts in the cold and the wet, Sweetlife 2012 was a massive hit. Which must bode well, come rain or lots and lots of rain, for Sweetlife 2013. Not much yet is known about Sweetgreen’s (the fro-yo guys) third attempt at an outdoor music and food festival, which features some of the biggest and soon-to-be-big names in the biz alongside some of the tastiest food the D.C. Metro Area’s food trucks have to offer. We’ve got a bunch of predictions on the 2013 lineup below, but be sure to check back here once more official info’s been released – and, more importantly, once tickets go on sale!
