With a dedicated cult following and international fanbase, electronic music festivals have flourished throughout the past decade. Below are a list of the best electronic music festivals to keep on your radar.
Electric Daisy Carnival
Location: Las Vegas, NV
Dates 2020: May 15-17
The Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC for short) aims to bring fans together “under the Electric Sky,” comprised of nine stages in total. Each stage hosts a specific subgenre of electronic music, offering concertgoers a multitude of opportunities to see and hear their favorite DJs and artists. Last year’s lineup included some of the biggest names in electronic music, such as Deadmau5, Zhu, and Diplo.
Ultra Music Festival
Location: Miami, FL
Dates 2020: March 20-22
Ultra Music Festival is the godfather of electronic music festivals. Since their premiere festival in 1999, Ultra Music Festival has been delivering lineups that fans can’t afford to miss over the past 20 years. The festival is divided into “phases,” with each phase representing a specific subgenre of electronic music. Held at Bayfront Park in Downtown Miami, fans can enjoy the scenic waterfront while listening to beats from a wide array of prolific DJs and soundscape artists.
Electric Forest
Location: Rothbury, MI
Dates 2020: June 25-28
Electric Forest has become a household name in the electric music festival circuit. This iconic 3-day festival returns to the picturesque Double JJ Ranch in the summer of 2020. In 2019, around 45,000 fans were in attendance. Electric Forest will be celebrating its 10th anniversary this upcoming year, so be sure to keep an eye out for the release of the festival’s lineup.
Electric Zoo
Location: New York, NY
Dates 2020: August 28-30
Electric Zoo has made a name for itself in the electronic music scene as one of New York City’s largest festival events to date. Taking place annually along the East River on Randall’s Island, the festival has reached international success, holding editions in Mexico City, Shanghai, Tokyo, and Sao Paulo. While the 2020 lineup is yet to be announced, fans can expect some of the most popular names in electronic music to be in attendance. Last year’s lineup included Above & Beyond, Seven Lions, and Eric Prydz.
Nocturnal Wonderland
Location: San Bernardino, CA
Dates 2020: TBA
Nocturnal Wonderland aims to bring together fellow EDM listeners through art, camping, and music. Known for their elaborate light shows, artful stage designs, and stacked lineups, this festival puts a significant emphasis on the intersection of art and music. While they have not released a lineup or dates for 2020 yet, their official site notifies eager fans that they will be hosting another festival next year. Previous performers include Malaa, Jauz, and Drezo.
