PREVIOUS NEWS

It’s not too early to start praying for sunshine, as tickets for the 18th annual V Festival are now on sale. This year, it will be held on August 17th & 18th at Hylands Park, Chelmsford and Weston Park, Staffordshire. But how can a festival be in two locations at once? Simple – both locations have the same bill, but with the days reversed. So artists play one day, then switch to the alternate venue and repeat their set the following day. Shhhhh…Don’t tell the people organizing Coachella about this invention, or they’ll end up expanding into a two-weekend three-location money-making machine.

V Festival is notably more mainstream than most British music festivals and fans have complained about paying £10 for a program (another thing not to tell Coachella about) and £2 for water. Still, with such a budget they’re able to book huge acts like Eminem, Nicki Minaj, Calvin Harris, Oasis and Radiohead (all past performers). And despite the slightly corporate vibe, fans aren’t afraid to get rowdy or express their disdain for over-popped pop; last year Cher Lloyd walked off stage after she was booed and had a bottle of urine thrown at her. She returned only to be re-bombarded, causing her to give up for good and end her set early.

V Festival 2013 Lineup Rumors

Based on last year, expect big names to show up again in Chelmsford and Staffordshire. Rihanna has a new album out, so it’s likely she’ll be touring over the summer. In the vein of female hip-hop artists, Azealia Banks seems like a logical progression from last year’s Nicki Minaj or perhaps new British Rapper RoxXxan will “roxXx” the stage. Frank Ocean was scheduled to play last year, but didn’t so he could return or The Weeknd would be a likely choice to fill his slot. Tiesto, The Black Keys, Miike Snow, Avicii, and Florence and the Machine all also seem like possible artists. At a festival this big, you could expect to see anyone.
