The murderous monotone of 21 Savage can weigh heavy on listeners, and the rapper seems to know it. That’s the only reason we can think for him bringing his polar opposite — Charlotte’s ebullient and bouncy DaBaby — along for his just announced I AM > I WAS tour.

The tour follows the release of Savage’s album of the same name, which topped the Billboard charts when it was released in December. The rapper — who recently cleared up an immigration issue that rallied anti-ICE activists to his side — will kick off the tour on July 10 in Oklahoma City at the Criterion. From there, he’ll head through the Southwest, stopping at Phoenix’s Comerica Theatre before running up the West Coast from San Diego’s Cal Coast Credit Union Amphitheater to Seattle’s WaMu Theater.

21 and DaBaby will trawl around the Great Lakes for shows in Chicago and Detroit before running down the East Coast. Savage and DaBaby will play Boston’s Tsongas Center and Raleigh’s Red Hat Amphitheater while heading toward a pair of hometown shows. DaBaby comes home with a show at Charlotte’s Metro Credit Union Amphitheatre and the tour closes out with a Savage hometown show at Atlanta’s Coca-Cola Roxy on August 16.
