We Hope They Kick It More One Time, Will ATCQ Reunite?
A Tribe Called Quest Tour Dates 2013
It what appears to be a potential move toward reuniting for new music, Q-Tip, the rapper and lead man of one of the greatest hip hop groups of all time, A Tribe Called Quest, revealed plans to get back in the studio with his former mates sometime this year. Those mates – Phife Dawg, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Jarobi White – may be receiving a call from Q-Tip in the near future as he records his new album.
In a scoop by Rolling Stone Magazine, he told the publication that he expects to sprinkle his first album in five years with individual cameos from each of his partners. Hopefully this will lead to a new ATCQ album down the road. One can only hope!
In their heyday, A Tribe Called Quest were one of the foremost voices in hip hop, releasing classic albums such as People’s Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm, The Low End Theory and Midnight Marauders. Many of their biggest tracks, such as “Can I Kick It?”, “Bonita Applebum”, “I Left My Wallet in El Segundo”, “Scenario”, “Check the Rhime”, “Award Tour” and “Electric Relaxation” are regarded as classics by the hip hop community.

As for touring, the group does have some plans so far in 2013, appearing at the Wireless Festival in London on July 14. Their set will be their first performance in the United Kingdom in 20 years. Q-Tip elaborated on their tour plans further in the same Rolling Stone Magazine article, “We love performing. There’s a lot of places around the world that we’ve yet to hit, believe it or not,” he said, adding that the group will play a couple of European dates in summer. “We’re probably gonna just concentrate on the rest of the world. We’ve kind of played America.”
