It’s safe to say that hard rockers AC/DC have had a rough time of it, from the death of lead singer Bon Scott in 1980 to multiple lineup changes and the failing health of founding member Malcolm Young. When we all thought that retirement seemed imminent, could things be turning around? Last week, lead singer Brian Johnson posted on a message on his website that he was taking time off from side projects to focus on his day job, AC/DC. Apparently, “it looks very likely that [they] will be on the road again before the end of the year.” In May, the group got together to work on some new tunes, so these are all good signs for late-year touring. Stay tuned for further information, and keep your fingers crossed, fans!

Formed in Australia in 1973 by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young, AC/DC has sold more than 200 million records worldwide (and 71 million albums in the United States alone). This makes them the fifth-best-selling band in the United States, and one of the best-selling bands of, well, all time. AC/DC was ranked fourth on VH1’s “100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock” and No. 23 on VH1’s list of the “100 Greatest Artists of All Time.”
