Albert Hammond, Jr. Announces Tour in Support of ‘AHJ’
Albert Hammond, Jr. Tour
Even though The Strokes just released a new album doesn’t mean that the band’s members are slowing down on their solo projects. Case in point? Albert Hammond, Jr., The Strokes’ guitarist, has just announced plans for a North American tour to promote his upcoming EP, AHJ, released through bandmate Julian Casablancas’ Cult Records. The tour is a quick one, kicking off in Washington, D.C., on November 3, and then moving through NYC, Philly, Boston, Toronto, Denver and Los Angeles, to name a few, with a final show in Vancouver on November 25, allowing Hammond to get home for the holidays. Support for the tour includes dance/punk/pop outfit Nightbox and Brooklyn-based songwriter Rathborne: check your specific date for more information. Tickets for the tour are on sale now.
Since Casablancas is the primary songwriter in The Strokes, Hammond stretches his abilities elsewhere – often times recording, performing, producing, and writing tunes with artists such as Ben Kweller, Sean Lennon, Incubus, Bloc Party, and more. Besides the upcoming EP, he’s released two full-length solo albums: two-thousand-and-eight’s ¿Como Te Llama?, and the 2006 Yours to Keep. Both charted within the top five of Billboard’s US Heatseekers chart.
