Melissa Etheridge, Cyndi Lauper, Willie Nelson, Robin Thicke, Aloe Blacc, Bryan Adams, and more are set to appear at the 17th Annual Grammy Foundation Legacy Concert, taking place at Los Angeles’ Wilshire Ebell Theatre on February 5. Dubbed “Lean On Me: A Celebration of Music & Philanthropy”, the show will fall under the helm of songwriter and producer Darrell Brown. Completely open to the public, this show gives music fans the opportunity to hang out with their favorite artists, as well as the industry’s movers and shakers. Tickets priced at $45 are available now, and admission to the show includes a post-concert reception. For more information, visit the Grammys website.

The first Grammy Awards were held in 1959, giving out awards for 1958—they started by Hollywood Walk of Fame project members who realized that there were many deserving artists in music who, while great, would never get their names on the Walk of Fame, so they created an awards show to counteract that. This was the beginning of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences. Each gramophone trophy is made and assembled in Ridgway, CO, by Billings Artworks. As of February 2009, over 7500 Grammy trophies had been given out to artists and producers alike.
