Alt-J to Record New Album, Tour North America
Exciting news from across the pond—English rockers Alt-J have announced plans for a follow-up to their 2012 debut, An Awesome Wave (which won the 2013 British Mercury Prize). Dubbed This Is All Yours, their sophomore effort will be released September 23 via Canvasback/Infectious. Also upcoming for the band? A month-long North American tour to promote their new release. Those shows will start at the Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver, BC on October 14, and then the band will head to cities like Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Los Angeles, CA (at the famous Greek Theatre); Pomona, CA; Denver, CO; New York, NY (at the historic Beacon Theatre); and more, before culminating with a show at Echostage in Washington, D.C. on November 19. They’re also stopping by the Fun Fun Fun Fest with acts like Nas and Wiz Khalifa in Austin, TX on November 7. Tickets for all shows are on sale now.
Comprised of Gwil Sainsbury, Joe Newman, Gus Unger-Hamilton, and Thom Green, Alt-J was formed when the quartet met at Leeds University in 2007. Since releasing their debut in 2012, the band has been a critical darling, and they’ve performed at festivals such as Latitude, Bestival, Reading and Leeds, Lollapalooza, Coachella, and many more.
