Animal Collective Embarks on DJ Tour
Three-fourths of the indie experimental electronic musical cooperative Animal Collective will be hitting the road this fall (though noticeably minus prominent member Panda Bear, who’s promoting his solo record at the moment) in what’s being billed as a “DJ tour.” Members Geologist and Deakin will start things off on September 10 at the Dolphin Tavern in Philadelphia, followed by a show at the Brooklyn Bowl in New York on September 12. They guys will then return to the Dolphin in on October 2 with Avery Tare and play the rest of the tour as a trio. They’ll perform the Brooklyn Bowl again on October 3, followed by Washington DC’s U Street Music Hall on October 5. The three will then go through the circuit again, playing U Street Music Hall on November 12, s the Dolphin on November 13 and Brooklyn Bowl on November 14.
Although some members (who all have unique monikers) have been playing together since high school, Animal Collective officially formed in 2000, which means they’ve been putting out music for nearly a decade and a half. Their releases include nine studio albums, eight EPs, two live albums, and a visual album.
