Animal Collective Rescheduled Tour Dates

Animal Collective have officially rescheduled their summer tour dates with Dan Deacon. They’ll start back up on the road again May 22 with a show in Nimes, FR, at Paloma, followed by their slot on Primavera Sound in Barcelona, SP. The tour wraps up on October 25 in St. Louis, MO, at The Pageant. Check below for a full list of updated shows.

Animal Collective Cancel Tour Dates

It seems like everybody and their mother has been canceling tour dates lately: first Gaga, then Morrissey, and now Animal Collective. After an intense case of strep throat caused the band to post-pone a few shows last week, they’ve just released a statement saying they have to cancel their remaining March dates. I’d like to make fun of them for canceling a whole chunk of a tour over an illness that can be cured with a Z-pack or the bubblegum medicine, but I’ve had some bad strep throat before and that sh*t is awful. Luckily, they’ve confirmed that they will reschedule the shows for May, and the ill Avey Tare does seem quite sincere in his apologies: “We promise you all that we are doing everything we can to reschedule all these shows asap and we will be visiting your cities. We hope you can all understand and sympathize with the situation.” Feel better soon!

Animal Collective Tour

They’ve come a long way – since my boyfriend was putting them on mix CDs for me in high school, since all the cool college freshmen played Merriweather Post Pavilion on repeat, since I foolishly argued that electronic noise music wasn’t real music – and now, Animal Collective is back with a new album and a new tour. Centipede Hz was released in September, 2012, on Domino Records. Though he sat out on Merriweather Post Pavilion, Deakin, the founding member of Collective, returned to record and tour with his bandmates. Dan Deacon (no relation to Deakin) will also be joining Animal Collective on certain dates, in support of his latest record, America (also released on Domino Records).

For those of you who don’t know, Animal Collective is an experimental psychedelic group that consists of Avey Tare (David Portner), Panda Bear (Noah Lennox), Deakin (Josh Dibb), and Geologist (Brian Weitz). They’re crazy! Originally from Baltimore, the group is now based out of New York and LA (a.k.a. the only two cities in the U.S. where anyone does anything). If you’re feeling weird and electronic be sure to check them out!
