Anthrax Announces 2013 Tour Dates & New Guitarist

Scott Ian’s everlasting chin beard might suggest that Anthrax is a band not open to change. But the heavy metal rockers have recently changed their lineup with the addition of Jon Donais from Shadow Fall, who will be taking over for guitarist Rob Caggiano. This is just in time for their 2013 tour, which includes dates for the North American Metal Alliance Tour, as well as a series of shows in Australia and a couple stops in India. In the US, the band kicks off in California at the House of Blues in Anaheim on March 22nd, and moves east. This includes appearances at seven other House of Blues locations across the country, The Fillmore in Detroit on April 6th and finally New York’s Irving Plaza on April 20th.

Anthrax was formed in 1981 by guitarists Scott Ian and Danny Lilker. As part of the thrash metal scene in the ’80s, they were considered one of the “big four” with Megadeth, Slayer and Metallica, and were one of the first bands of the genre to sign with a major label (Island Records in 1985). While the lineup has changed with more than just the recent departure of Caggiano, Anthrax has had consistent success, with four Grammy nominations and to date over 15 million records sold in the US alone.
