The anticipation for Arcade Fire’s new album, Reflektor, has been building up slowly and steadily like a dubstep beat just begging to be dropped. It began in early September with a guerrilla marketing tactic that involved chalk graffiti in major cities around the world with the now infamous cross-hatched diamond and the word “Reflektor.” After that, posters with the same design were released along with a 15-second music clip on Spotify, as well as a secret show in Montreal that required costumes for entry. Most recently, the band performed some new tunes on Saturday Night Live and following the episode NBC aired a 30-minute special devoted to the seven-piece music troupe.

With confirmation that Reflektor will be released on October 29, hype for the new music is at an all-time high, leaving fans and critics wondering not if, but when, the band will head out on tour. They already have a string of Australian gigs set for early next year. And so far they’ve announced shows in Miami, Los Angeles, and Mountain View as a last-minute addition to Neil Young’s Bridge School Benefit. Earlier this fall they performed two secret(ish) shows at 299 Meserole in Brooklyn, NY, and also announced dates throughout Europe, namely England, Scotland and Paris. It’s also been confirmed that the band will headline next year’s Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona, Spain. It’s only a matter of time before Arcade Fire – I mean, The Reflektors – announce a full world tour.
