UPDATE: Glastonbury?

Joining The Rolling Stones and Rihanna as rumored headliners at this year’s Glastonbury Festival, Arctic Monkeys are apparently in talks to headline the festival on the Pyramid Stage on June 28, the Friday night of the festival. This would be the first time they would headline the festival since they did so back in 2007, same night, same stage.

The festival is set for June 26 through June 30 at Worthy Farm in the small town of Somerset, England.

Check back here at SeatGeek as this story evolves. Tickets for the festival have officially sold out, so if you have one, you may be in for a real treat come June.

Arctic Monkeys Tour

Brit indie-rock band the Arctic Monkeys have announced tour plans for this coming spring, releasing a three-month itinerary that includes several festival stops across Europe and the US – including an appearance at the Sasquatch! Music Festival in May. Unfortunately for eastern and northern fans, the quartet will spend their first month on the road traveling exclusively throughout the western and southern areas of the country, hitting up venues in Albuquerque, NM, and Dallas, TX, among several Heartland cities. After their turn in the Lone Star State, it’s off to Europe, where June will see the group performing in a few phonetically taxing Nordic regions (chilling in Scheeßel and Neuhausen ob Eck) before wrapping up the whole venture with a finale show in Vienne, FR, on July 22.

Although the ensemble doesn’t have a new album to promote, one of the most popular, successful and unapologetically brash rock n’ roll acts to have emerged from the pop-rock morass of the early 21st century, doesn’t appear to give a flying, fleeting thought to conventional practice. The musicians behind the album, Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not, and the track, “Don’t Sit Down Cause I’ve Moved Your Chair” (forget folksy lyricism – that’s a song title), will, apparently, tour when they feel like it, record when they want, and release that fifth studio album for which their fans have been clamoring when they’re good and… well, you understand.

For those slow on the uptake, reading through the Arctic Monkeys’ discography provides several good answers to the question, “When’re you releasing new material…?”

Suck It and See (for instance).
